It has been known that human beings could contract tuberculosis from animals but a report presented at a conference on Lung Health in South Africa in early December 2015 has thrown more light on the problem.

A paper presented by a U.S. expert, Colleen Scott, of the Centre for disease Control and Prevention (CDC) shown that the level of the infection from animals, mostly cattle, has gone up and is common among the Hispanics in the United States. According to him, about 44 percent of TB infections among the Hispanic population come from cattle. In the general population, about 1.4 percent of TB infections come from cattle through consuming unsterilized milk and cheese. This is similar to global rate.
