While speaking at the com¬commissioning of the Mogaji Ngeria Basic Health Center at the weekend in Ilorin, The Nigeria’s Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki, who was represented at the event by the former Ma¬majority Leader of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Alh Kayode Omotoshe,
has raised the alarm over the current ratio 1-15 infant mortality rate in the country noting that such situation is too high and unacceptable to the people of the country, and insisting that the trend could be reversed if all tiers of government, corporate or¬organisation and wealthy individuals were commit¬ted to effective primary healthcare delivery, saying that America attained ratio 1-250 Child Mortality rate due to political-will by the American Government. In his remark, the State Governor, Alh AbdulFatah Ahmed described primary healthcare as bedrock of effective healthcare delivery. The Governor represented by the State Com¬missioner for Health Alh Atolagbe Alege said it was in realization of this that he appointed Executive Sec-retary for primary health¬care service in the state and stressed the need for adequate support for the primary healthcare health sector to check infant mor¬tality rate.
He then praised Hon Se¬gilola Abdul Kadir for her commitment towards im¬proving the well-being of the people of her constitu¬ency.
