The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanttarian Affairs says about 3.4 million persons in the the North East geopolital zone of Nigeria are suffering from acute malnutrition with 450,000 of them sufferring from severe acute malnutrition. The zone is made up of six states: Adamawa, Borno, Yobe, Bauchi, Gombe and Taraba.
The first three have been under repeated terrorist attacks by Boko Haram for over five years; consequently farmers have no been able to till the lland.
According to the United Nations, three local government areas in Borno State are currently in accessible.
