Mrs Joy Edum, a 45years old housewife bought a child without her husband’s knowledge saying she needed a child. Mrs Edum stated that it was because she doesn’t have a child she decided to buy a child knowing fully well her husband will not support her action.

For allegedly stealing and selling the five year old girl (names withheld) for #350,000, a woman Chiamaka Ukeje aged 22 years suspected to be the mother, Mrs Edum and two others were paraded by the Imo State Police Command yesterday.

The police acted on a tip-off arresting a four- man child trafficking syndicate that conspired and stole a five-year –old female at Umududru Isiala Mbano and sold the child to Mrs Joy Edum of Rumwara Obiakpo, Port Harcourt, River State for #350,000.
