A clinical trial carried out in Mali and the United States of America has shown that a new Ebola vaccine developed under the auspices of the World Health Organisation has promises. The study report published in the Lancet Infectious Diseases Journal says the vaccine protects people who are close to Ebola patients such as health workers and relatives and thus can break the transmission chain and hence curtail the spread of the disease.
The study was conducted by the University of Maryland, United States of America.
