Akwa Ibom State Government has commissioned a cassava processing factory at Mbak Nsit.

The cassava processing factory, with a capacity of 10 metric tonnes daily, is expected to process cassava into quality garri, fufu, flour and starch.

Inaugurating the factory, the State Governor, Godswill Akpabio, advised the people of the state to make the most of the factory to ensure that there is sufficient food in the State.

The governor lauded the initiative of the State Ministry of Agriculture for going into projects that impact on the lives of people as well as alleviates the suffering of women in that area.

The State Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resources, Godwin Afangide, briefed the Governor on the functional capabilities of the factory.

The governor’s wife, Ekaette Akpabio, Secretary to the Akwa Ibom State Government, Udom Emmanuel, Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Sam Ikon and Members of the State Executive Council and the Inter-ministerial Direct Labour Coordinating Committee were present at the commissioning of the factory
