The management of the Apollo Hospital, New Delhi, India is collaborating with Nigerian hospitals to ensure that patients receive quality health care services. A Consultant Urologist at the Indian hospital, Dr. Narasimhan Subramanian, stated this at a Continuing Medical Education and free medical screening programme in Abuja.

The Indian firm organised the programme in conjunction with the Viewpoint Hospital in Abuja.

Subramanian said, “Before a patient seeks medical treatment in India, the patient should make the needed enquiry to ascertain the level of competence of the hospital. “That is why we are collaborating with hospitals in Nigeria to make sure their clients get quality service when they get to India.” He urged patients to embrace new technology for surgery, noting that it reduces complications and hastens recovery.

Subramanian added, “Robotic surgery is less invasive. It reduces the pain after surgery and the patient is able to recover quickly. The Apollo Institute of Robotic Surgery has been able to carry out 430 successful surgeries since it was inaugurated and we hope that more patients and experts will embrace this technology. “Apollo hospital has 20 branches in India with over 1,000 specialists. We have the second largest kidney and liver transplant unit in the world and our cost of treatment is one-fifth of other developed countries.”
