Scientist at James Cook University are working to develop a pharmaceutical tourniquet, a fluid which helps stem fatal blood loss associated with internal bleeding. The work is being supported by the U.S military, to be used in combat missions to increase the survival rate among soldiers. The aim is to give wounded soldiers up to 72 hours before their internal bleeding could kill them.
