British scientists at Crick Institute, UK, have been granted permission by the British Fertility Regulatory body to edit/alter genes in embryos. However, such altered embryos cannot be implanted into the womb of any woman. An embryo is the product of the fertilization of a woman’s egg by a man’s sperm; it then grows to become a baby in the womb.

The British scientists will not be the first to alter genes, the Chinese did it in 2015 to treat a blood disorder.
Genes determine who we are and being able to edit/alter a gene could have a lot of medical advantages but if not controlled could lead artificial creation of persons.
