Our president, Mohammadu Buhari has appealed to drug manufacturers to reduce the cost of anti-retroviral drugs so as to make them accessible to all those who need them. He made this call in New York, USA at a side event organized by the National Agency for the Control of Aids (NACA) at the on-going 70th United Nations General Assembly in New York.
He revealed that in 2014 alone about 3 million pregnant women were tested for HIV and 63,000 of these tested women received anti-retroviral drugs.
As of today, these drugs are quite expensive, making them inaccessible to those who really need them
