A Washington state woman is suing an Idaho fertility doctor after discovering through an online ancestry website that the man had secretly fathered her. Kelli Rowlette and the parents, who raised her, Sally Ashby and her then-husband Howard Fowler, filed the lawsuit in Idaho district court in March against Dr. Gerald Mortimer, his wife and the Obstetrics and Gynecology Associates of Idaho Falls. IVF egg donor use rises sharply, HFEA figures show

The number of women using donated eggs has risen sharply in the past 10 years, latest figures show. There were 1,912 women who had IVF using a donor egg in 2006, compared to 3,924 in 2016, the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority (HFEA) said. It attributed the rise to a greater awareness of donation as an option, more donors, and more same sex couples, single and older women using them. The number of women donating their eggs is also on the increase. However, a study has gone a step further and revealed that if your baby has gone on the father, they may have an edge in terms of attracting attention and deriving health benefits. Parents who encourage their teens to diet could negatively impact their child’s weight-related and emotional health for years to come, according to a study published Tuesday in the journal Pediatrics. “Experiencing parent encouragement to diet as an adolescent was significantly associated with a higher risk of overweight or obesity, dieting, binge eating, engaging in unhealthy weight control behaviors, and lower body satisfaction 15 years later as a parent,” the study, which followed 556 teens whose parents encouraged dieting over a 15-year period, stated. Police in India have reopened the case of a 10-year-old girl after forensic tests revealed that her baby’s DNA samples did not match those of her uncle who is charged with raping her.
