The Nigerian Army has of Monday denied reports stating that Boko Haram terrorists attacked its location in Adamawa and killed five soldiers. The army has said that the reports were part of calculated attempts to dissuade and put fear in the minds of returnee IDPs going back to their liberated communities. In a statement made by Brigadier General Texas Chukwu, Director, Army Public Relations said, “The attention of the Nigerian Army has been drawn to a purported story published in a media organization on Friday 13 July 2018 captioned ‘’BOKO HARM KILL 5, HOIST FLAG IN ADAMAWA. The Nigerian Army wishes to state that the story is not only untrue but also misleading. Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has called for intensification of sound entrepreneurship training from Primary schools so as to enhance the capacity of Nigerians in the globally competitive economic environment.  Murdered corps member: Family tells police to probe Abuja hospital

The family of Angela Igwetu, the Corps member who was shot dead by a police officer has petitioned the police to go after the management of the Abuja hospital that attended to their daughter as autopsy report faulted the claims made by the hospital. Recall that the corps member was shot at a checkpoint immediately after Ceddi Plaza by a police officer, identified as Benjamin Peters. The incident occurred after the deceased who rounded up her job at about 11pm on Wednesday, July 4, 2018, joined a few friends at a hang–out before their Passing out Parade scheduled for the following day. Two guards attached to Topline Security Company, contracted by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, to protect its pipelines’ right of way in Lagos, have been murdered and buried in shallow graves in Ilashe, near ATLAS COVE, Lagos.  The deceased– Bello Williams, popularly called Awilo, and Oluwasegun Olusanya– were hacked to death on their way to get water from a boat that came to supply them sachet water, last Wednesday.  Nigeria: Malaria Responsible for 50% Deaths in Borno – WHO

The World Health Organization (WHO) has said that malaria is responsible for more than 50 percent recorded deaths in Borno state. This was disclosed in Jere Sunday by the state Coordinator, WHO in Borno, Dr Audu Musa during the flagging off of this year’s seasonal Malaria prevention campaign held at Farm Centre internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camp , in Jere Local government area of Borno state. Dr Musa said the excercise which targets 1.1 million children between the age brackets of 3 months to less than five years commenced in 13 selected local government areas, including security compromised Ngala and Monguno local government areas of the state from 14th to 17th July this year.  Woman lawyer raped by senior advocate in Delhi’s Saket court chamber

A woman lawyer was allegedly raped by a senior advocate in his chamber in South Delhi’s Saket court, police said on Sunday. The victim, in her statement to the police, said the accused, who was in an inebriated condition, sexually assaulted her in his chamber which was in the same complex where she worked, Deputy Commissioner of Police (south) Romil Baaniya said.On the intervening night of July 14-15, the victim called up the police and alleged that she was sexually assaulted by the senior lawyer, the DCP said. Her statement has been recorded and a medical examination has also been conducted, he said. The chamber, where the alleged incident took place, has been sealed and the Forensic Science Laboratory and crime team has inspected it, Baaniya said.
