CMD harps on free treatment for accident victims.
The Chief Medical Di¬rector (CMD) of Dal¬hatu Araf Specialist Hospital, Lafia, Dr Yakubu Ashuku, has said that in or¬der to ensure that precious lives are not wasted;
there is the need for health facilities to give urgent attention to ac¬cident victims. He, however, disclosed that part of the services which is offered at no cost in his Spe¬cialist Hospital was the free treatment of multiple acci¬dent victims whose rela¬tions cannot be immediate¬ly reached. According to him, since the suspension of the strike recently embarked upon by medical doctors in Nasara¬wa State, all health services in the hospital have been go¬ing on without any hitch as all departments in the hospital have continued to put in their best in ensuring that medical services are delivered on time and in the general interest of the patients. The CMD further noted that the state Government in its wisdom has since set¬tled all the issues raised by the medical doctors during the strike. He also stated that the state Government has put in place proactive measures to ensure that LASSA fever out¬break did not resurface in the state through the provision of essential kids and vaccines. “Our case in Dalhatu Araf Specialist hospital being a government facility is unique. This is because government takes care of virtually every¬thing, so we have minor chal¬lenges to deal with. “This is why accident vic¬tims that are brought in here are sure of free treatment as directed by the governor. Our drugs are supplied to us by the state government. Ours is the professional input and one of the challenges we have here is shortage of manpower,” he said. Dr Ashuku , however, ap¬plauded the effort of the Na¬sarawa State Governor for putting in place proactive measure to ensure that in¬dustrial harmony between the government and med¬ical doctors in the state is achieved..
