It has been known that small doses of aspirin help in no small way to reduce the damage to the heart muscles in heart attacks, it does not prevent heart attack but it reduces the damage.
A recent study just presented at a conference in Europe has shown that aspirin taken daily in small doses can also fight against gastrointestinal cancer especially those of the colon, rectum and oesophagus.
The study was carried in the Netherlands by a team which looked at the records of 13,700 patients with gastrointestinal cancer from 1998 to 2011. It was found that those on small doses of aspirin survived more that those who did not receive aspirin.
