More people in the United States of America died from Alzheimer’s disease in 2014  than in 2013 according to a US Health data released recently. This may be due to increase in aging population and may be awareness about the disease.

 

Alzheimer’s disease is the most common form dementia in the elderly and is said to affect about 37 million persons as per World Health Organisation globally, a number that is likely to increase in the coming years tripling by 2050

It is characterised by memory loss, change in personality (those affected becoming more quit or aggressive), wandering behavior and communications problems.

 

The disease cannot be prevented, controlled or cured; it is caused by changes in the brain cells. Caing for Alzheimer’s cases annually cost the world about USD818 billion.
