Leaders from government, finance, and pharmaceuticals, among others are set to converge in Lagos at an international workshop on Intellectual Property protection in promoting innovation and economic development in emerging markets.

The workshop which opens at the 4 Points by Sheraton Hotel, July 14 through 16, 2015 is being hosted by Anadach Group, is designed to draw attention to the current Intellectual Property bill passing through the National Assembly.

The bill, sponsored by Janssen Pharmaceuticals of Johnson and Johnson, ICC, Pfizer Inc, the Private Sector Health Alliance of Nigeria, and Jackson, Etti and Edu. Partners among others.

As part of the expected outcome, the Chairman,  International Chamber of Commerce,  ICCN, and Chairman, Guiness Nigeria, Mr. Babatunde Savage, will launch  a report on Intellectual Property and innovation in Nigeria developed by the Business Action to Stop Counterfeiting and Piracy Group, BASCAP.

The workshop commence with an intensive certified training session tagged ‘IP 101 for innovators and entrepreneurs’, where attendees will learn about ”What to protect, How and where to protect it, and What your Protection covers/costs.” It will be followed by a 2 day workshop to connect the leaders to advance a discussion on the role of Intellectual Property protection in promoting economic development.

A number of exciting topics will be discussed by knowledgeable speakers including former ICT e Commissioner, Lagos State, Mr BiyiMabadeje, and former Vice Chancellor, University of Ibadan, Prof. Olufemi Bamiro, among a host of others.
