Ekiti moves to curb spread of Lassa fever.
During a meeting with stakeholders in the health sector in Ado- Ekiti, the Commissioner for  health Ekiti state, Dr. Olurotimi Ojo, disclosed that the Ekiti state Government is taking proactive steps to ensure that the fresh out- break of Lassa fever else where does not spread to the state, and the Emergency out-break Center (EOC) Constituted in the state in the wake of the national  occurrence of the hemorrhagic fever in January has been reactivated and placed on high alert in the view of the recent development.
According to Ojo, the state government organized the forum with stakeholders to harmonize plans on how to improve surveillance as well as infection and prevention and health control at various health facilities, adding that effort were in top gear to also improve environmental sanitation and embark on massive public sensitization on the need for people to embrace healthy practices and rid their rats and other vectors to deadly diseases
He also stated that six sub committees that include case management, contact tracing, social mobilization, infection control and laboratory had been set up to prevent and effectively tackle any suspected case of the disease.
