A well known American Sports Medicine expert has concluded that the more you exercise, the less your blood total cholesterol. This followed the measurement of total cholesterol of 2,100 marathon runners and non-runners; the non-runners were not sedentary persons but did less exercise than the marathon runners. The result showed that all those tested had cholesterol levels than 200 and that those marathon runners had less cholesterol level than the non-runners. In the same study, older people were found to have high cholesterol levels than younger people and those men who were thick-set had even higher cholesterol levels. The last observation did not apply to women where weight seemed to have no effect.
