At the fundraiser organized by the Eye Bank for Restoring Sight Nigeria in Lagos, Doctors of the EBRSN called on Nigerians to embrace the initiative of donating their Corneas before they die because the Cornea extracted from the eyes of deceased persons can be used to restore the sight of others.

The Chairman, Board of Trustees of the EBRSN, Dr. Olaseinde Akinsite noted that no less than 30 percent of the blind population in Nigeria was suffering from Cornea-related problems and corrective surgeries using this tissues could restore their sight.
