Fast walk at 3 miles an hour can halve the risk of heart attack, stroke, and heart failure so says a recent study report published in the Journal Circulation. About 420 volunteers (aged 65 years and above) were followed for about 10 years and asked questions every six months on their physical activities and any heart issues that arose.

Those who walked at 3 miles or faster per hour had lower risk of heart related diseases than those who walked slower. The walk could be replaced by activities such as mowing lawns, gardening, swimming and biking.
