Comrade Deborah Yusuf, NANNM Chairperson, FCT chapter told journalists that the awareness campaign was to educate the public about precautionary measures needed against the disease. She also told nurses to educate patients on how to live in hygienic environments free from rodents that can cause food contamination and identify patient with severe cases of fever, headache, and vomiting blood for referral to the appropriate centres for further management.

She also called on the Federal Government to engage all stakeholders whenever there is an outbreak of disease and to promote the welfare of nurses to enable them performs well according to International Best Practices since most of them are exposed to various diseases.
The address was during the NANNM Advocacy Campaign to prevent the spread of lassa feverin the Federal capital Territory (FCT).
