During the commemoration of the 2016 World Cancer Day, the Federal Government declared cancer a priority project in the health sector and has developed a process that will transform the National Agency.
The Minister of Health, Prof. Isaac Adewole said the National Agency for Cancer Control would be a multi disciplinary centre with all health care personnel, public experts, to provide leadership and technical directions for cancer control in the country. The Minister of State Health, Dr Enahire Osagie also revealed that 60 per cent of all cancer cases occur in women due to breast and cervical cancer.

Government has also planned to overcome challenging barriers by developing public private partnership strategies to address funding gaps and manpower shortage
