The Federal Ministry of Health has distributed 1,812 doses of anti-rabies vaccine to nine accredited Colleges of Veterinary Medicine. Veterinarians are always at the forefront of the prevention and control of the virus, hence the special attention.
Rabies is a viral disease that causes acute inflammation of the brain in human. The bite of animal infected with the virus is the commonest cause of rabies; the virus is carried in the saliva of a rabid animal and one can be affected by the virus through oen wound on the skin.
