The minister of Health and Social Welfare Dr. Omar Sey on behalf of the First Lady, Her Excellency Madam Zineb Jammeh Thursday received medical equipment and clothing from Yvonne Blair, a German volunteer who mobilize the items for the children. Speaking at the occasion, Minister Sey stated that the donation came through the Office of the First Lady noting that the First Lady Her Excellency Madam Zineb Jammeh asked him to receive the donation and distribute them to the Edward Francis Small Teaching Hospital and Serekunda General Hospital.

He pointed out that the First Lady greatly care for children and her intention is for every child to receive the best health treatment. The Health minister thanked the donor for the support and assured that every item donated will be accounted for and would be used for the purpose it is meant for. He equally thanked the First Lady for the support she always give her foundation.

Pastor Sahr James of the Chapel Church of the Edward Francis Small Teaching Hospital who represented the donor at the ceremony noted that the donated materials were mobilized by Yvonne Blair who visited both Serekunda and Edward Francis Smalll Teaching Hospital. He pointed out that as a result of the good work the First Lady is doing in The Gambia through her good foundation that is why when the donor mobilized the items from the Medical and Military Hospitals in Denmark they channel it through the Office of the First Lady.

For his part, the director of Pharmacy Babanding Sabally said health dispensation is quite capital intensive and he therefore decribed the donation as timely. The ceremony was chaired by Momodou Njai, the director of Health Promotion and Education. Pastor Sahr James of the Chapel Church of the Edward Francis Small Teaching Hospital who represented the donor at the ceremony noted that the donated materials were mobilized by Yvonne Blair who visited both Serekunda and Edward Francis Smalll Teaching Hospital.
