2. German Embassy Donates Clinic to IDPs to Combat Malaria
Speaking about the motive behind the project, the representative of the German ambassador at the unveiling of the health facility Mr. Yacine Harrak, disclosed that German embassy in Nigeria has partnered with African Health Initiative and the National Youth Service Corps scheme (NYSC) to combat malaria and other diseases among the internally displaced persons in Abuja, adding that The embassy,

in its quest to achieving this objective has established a clinic equipped with modern laboratory facilities at New Kuchingoro IDPs camp, and  the project was conceived out of the need to save women and children from the deadly paws of malaria which has already claimed some lives on the camp. He also said “The idea for the project was that some months ago there were several malaria cases, especially children were affected, I learnt one or two of them have died; by this we felt the need to intervene, to safe these vulnerable children from dreads of malaria and other infections.
The envoy who expressed determination to combating malaria on the camp added that a drainage system has been installed to facilitate flow of stagnant water serving as breeding space for mosquitoes, adding that “We also installed drainage system so that water can flow off the camp, so that there would be no more breeding space for mosquitoes within the camp and we believe by that measure malaria infection will decrease very fast”
