There is a war of opinions going on between the World Health Organization (WHO) and the European Foods standards Agency (EFSA) over the safety of the most widely used pesticide in the world, Glyphosate. It is manufactured by Monsanto, a transnational chemical company and used by it and other companies as ingredient for weed pesticide.

The pesticide of Monsanto is called ROUNDUP. The other known companies which use Glyphosate as pesticide ingredient are Bayer and Syngenta.

According to WHO, following a study by one of its agencies, the pesticide is associated with cancer but the European Foods Standard Agency thinks the pesticide is safe. The latter has based its position on a study conducted by a German Institute.

The European Parliament is currently debating the issue with about 100 scientists from around the world on both sides of the divide in attendance
