As part of its commitment to deliver its mandate on Tobacco Act in rolling back tobacco epidemic and eliminating tobacco related illnesses and death, the Director, Media and Public Relations, Federal Ministry of Health, quoted the Minister of Health, Prof. Isaac Adewole, as saying this in a statement made available to newsmen on Tuesday in Abuja.

Adewole was reacting to a media advertorial published on Oct. 6, entitled “SOS: Save National Tobacco Control Committee from Subversive Elements”, and The minister said in the said advertorial, a group, Initiative for Public Policy Analysis (IPPA), suggested the implementation of National Tobacco Control Act 2015, adding that the group also questioned the activities and integrity of members of the recently inaugurated National Tobacco Control Committee.
The minister said the group also made unsubstantiated claims of attempts by foreign entities to manipulate the implementation of the Tobacco Control Act through insertion of clauses and inducements.
