1. Lassa Fever is caused by Lassa virus;
Lassa Fever is caused by Lassa virus; it is named after the village where the virus was first identified. The virus belongs to a group of viruses which cause haemorrhagic fevers such dengue fever, ebola fever, yellow fever and so forth.
The reservoir of infection is a particular type of rat—the Natal multimammate mouse which is found in sub-Saharan Africa. It is normally resident in the bush but is driven into houses during bush burning during the dry season.

The virus lives and multiplies in the rat. It is contained in the urine and stool of rats. The urine can contaminate exposed food and man contracts the disease if he eats the contaminated food. The stool can become dried up and with dust can be breathed in during sweeping of the floor or in a windy situation.
It spreads from person to person through direct contact with body fluids-saliva, nasal discharge, blood of infected persons.
2. You can avoid Lassa fever by practicing food hygeine
One way of spread is through eating food contaminated by urine of infected rats, consequently food must be protected by all means from rats. Practicing food hygiene is quite helpful,—food must be covered, protected from rats. Soaking of garri is to be avoided as its source is never assured
3. Eating beans regularly is important for body building and growth
Protein is an organic compound containing carbon, hydrogen, oxygen and nitrogen. The smallest unit of protein is AMINO ACID; when we eat protein it is broken down by our body during digestion to amino acids.
The origin of amino acid is plant, plants synthesise amino acids from carbon dioxide, water and nitrogen obtained from soil or in some cases from the air; this is followed by combining several amino acids to form protein. Animals get protein when they eat plants while man gets protein when he eats plants and /or animals.
There are 20 amino Acids, out of which 9 are essential (cannot be manufactured by the body) and thus must be gotten from foods eaten while the other 11 are non-essential (can be manufactured by the body) using nitrogen obtained from other amino acids.
The body combines the various amino acids to form proteins; two types of proteins are formed:- fibrous protein and globular proteins. The fibrous protein is strong mechanically and makes up the muscles, hair, nails and connective tissue; the globular protein which is water soluble is found within the cells and constitute the hormones, antibodies, enzymes and body fluid.
Plant proteins are of low quality,; they may have all the nine essential amino acids or some of them and in insufficient amounts. Thus one needs to consume a wide variety of plants to get all the nine essential amino acids in sufficient quantities.
However; one plant that has all the nine essential amino acids in sufficient quantities is SOYBEAN.
It is therefore a source of high quality protein; in fact the only plant source.
Functions of protein include body building (growth), provision of energy, formation of hormones, antibodies, enzymes and body fluids. Proteins also help in the transportation of certain substances in the body.
Beans contain a lot of protein 4.5-9 grams in every 100 grams.
4. See your doctor if you have ear- pain, discharge or noise in the ear.
Drainage from the ear is not normal and usually suggests infection. See your doctor as soon as possible.
Also see an ear doctor immediately if you injure you ears, experience ear pain, or notice changes in your ear or hearing.
5. Nose bleeds could be due to colds/allergic rhinitis, infections
The common cold is a viral infection of the nose and throat characterized by repeated sneezing and running nose. When severe, it could be accompanied by nose bleed. This could be due to increased blood supply to the little’s area owing to the resultant inflammation.
The same could be said of allergic rhinitis; the nose runs copiously and there is repeated sneezing as a reaction to pollen, paint fumes and some other irritants, even the common insecticide used to kill mosquitoes.
Some infections can cause bleeding from the nose, they include Lassa fever and Ebola fever infections.
6. Humility breeds strong relationships
Humility means you can easily accept your faults and apologise whenever the need arises; consequently humble people do better in relationships (marriages, friendships etc). The words “I am sorry” mean a lot in a love relationship but very people realize that.
