Dr. Amam Mbakwem, an Associate Cardiology Professor at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH), Lagos, South west Nigeria said most Cardio Vascular Diseases CVDS can be prevented by addressing behavioral risk factors such as tobacco use, unhealthy diet and obesity, physical inactivity and harmful use of alcohol.

He continued that the most common cause of heart attacks and strokes are as a result of buildup of fatty deposits on the inner walls of the blood vessels that supply the heart or brain.

Cardio Vascular Diseases (CVD) are a group of disorders of the heart and blood vessels such as: Coronary heart disease, cerebrovascular disease, peripheral arterial disease, congenital heart disease, and deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism.
