It is becoming more apparent that high fat diet may not be responsible for obesity after all.
This impression follows

an analysis of about 53 weight loss studies involving about 68,000 adults. 
They subjects in the various studies were placed on diet; some on low fat diet, others on high fat diet and weighed after one year of being on the diet, the weight loss for on low fat diet was only about 5kg on the average. 
The analysis did not show any statistical difference between those on high fat and those on low fat diet although there was a slight advantage in those on high fat diet. 
The study was published in the British Lanc.
