If the present fight against HIV infection is sustained, the HIV epidemic may end by 2030, so says the World Health Organisation (WHO). This was announced during a pre celebration press release by the body at the on-going Conference on AIDS and S*xually Transmitted Infections in Africa (ICASA), in Harare, Zimbabwe. Tomorrow, the 1st of December is World AIDS day.
According to the release, the number of deaths from HIV/AIDS fell from an all time high figure of 2 million in 2004 to 1.2 million globally in 2014.
The progress made has been attributed to political will of various governments around the world, Person Living HIV/AIDS activist groups and various International Development Partners.
