The animosity between Japan and South Korea appears to be near its end with an apology from the Prime Minister of Japan and a pledge to pay more than USD8 million as compensation to those affected. 

 

Japanese soldiers are said to have conscripted Korean women as “Comfort Women”, another name for prostitutes, for soldiers at the war front; only a few of these women who are now in their 80s and 90s are left.  

 

It is hoped that with this payment and apology, the matter will finally be put to rest.
