Kaduna State Commissioner for Finance, Alhaji Samaila Aliyu has facilitated the enrollment of 2,000 people into the Community Based Social Health Insurance Scheme in Makarfi Local Government Area of the state.
The commissioner who hails from the local government also paid their contribution so they can enjoy free access to health care services for the next one year.
His words: “42 cooperative groups have also been mobilized and their registration with a bank account facilitated for each one of them with a sum of 50,000 naira as seed money to enable them take advantage of the KDSG-BOI and KDSG-BOA matching funds as well as other funding windows designed to support the development of micro small and medium enterprises in the state,” he said.
Alhaji Sama’ila also distributed motorcycles, sewing machines, bicycles and two vehicles to women and youth groups in the area.
The commissioner said the gesture was to empower such groups to be self dependent through job creation and support to small and medium scale enterprises.
Governor Muktar Ramalan Yero who chaired the distribution of the poverty alleviation materials to the people commended the commissioner for a job well done as he appealed to other members of the community to emulate him.
He also used the opportunity to call on electorate to ensure they collect their PVCs to enable them cast their votes during the elections.
