The Kano State Government on Friday in Kano destroyed fake and illicit drugs worth N143 million, in continuation of its war against drug abuse in the state.
The Commissioner for Health, Dr Abubakar Labaran, told newsmen in Kano that the drugs were confiscated at various times by the state Task Force on Fake and Counterfeit Drugs.
He said that the drugs were presented to Gov. Rabiu Kwankwaso who ordered their destruction.
Labaran said that the governor also ordered the burning of two Opel cars, impounded at Kofar Ruwa Motor Park in Kano for conveying fake drugs, as no one came forward to claim the vehicles’ ownership.
He gave the assurance that the state government would not relent in its efforts to rid the state of fake drugs and drug abuse.
Laraban also called on the public to report any suspicious movement to the committee for appropriate action. (NAN)
