while speaking on behalf of the Speaker, Kabiru Al-Hassan Rurum, at a two-day retreat which held in Kaduna organized by the Community Health and Research Initiative (CHR) for Kano legislators, The Majority Leader of Kano State House of Assembly, Yusuf Attah, has assured that the state government will meet the 15 percent allocation to the health sector in the 2017 budget.Earlier in his remark, the Project Director of CHR, Aminu Magashi Garba, noted that the retreat was aimed at enhancing the legislators’ work as well as to provide them with information that will help them make adequate budgeting for health in the state.

He said: “Over the last years, Kano State has been lagging behind as budget allocated to the health sector is below 10 percent, hence, the need to increase the funding to meet the Abuja Declaration.”We will review the 2016 budget performance, achievements and challenges in the health sector with a view to making recommendations. We feel this is the right time to advocate for double digits allocation to health in 2017.”
