One of the five survivors of the Associated Airline’s Plane crash which occurred in Lagos earlier in the month is said to have lost her toes and fingers by amputation. The toes and fingers are said to have gangrenous and had to be amputated.
In the absence of further information, it is difficult to proffer reasons for the amputation. However if the toes or finger were crushed or blood flow was prevented from reaching the extremities (toes or fingers) for long, it could lead to death of the parts and gangrene will set in. Even in the best of centres, if amputation is not done on time, it leads to death.
