At the side-lines of the 69th Annual world Health Assembly in Geneva, the World Health Organization’s Regional Office for Africa (AFRO) launched a major new partnership to help African countries called the Expanded Special Project for Elimination of NTDs (ESPEN); it is expected to reduce the burden of Neglected Tropical Disease (NTDs), provide national NTD programme with technical and fundraising support in controlling and eliminating five NTDs:- Onchocerciasis, Lymphatic Filariasis, Schitosomiasis, Soil transmitted Helminths and Trachoma.
