Lawmakers passes bill for establishment of National cancer institute in Nigeria.

Due to the huge amount of money spent by Nigerians on treatment abroad, The House of Representative yesterday, passed a Bill for an Act seeking to establish National Cancer Institute for prevention,

treatment and control of cancer in the country to a second reading, and the Bill was sponsored by Sunday Karimi, who represents Yagba/Moparumo Federal constituency in Kogi state.

The lawmakers also said that the institute would play advisory role to the Ministry of Health on best practices in the management of cancer in Nigeria, noting that the purpose of the Bill was to minimize the rate of deaths caused by cancer in the country.
