The Liberia News Agency Director-General, J. Nagbe Sloh, has stressed the need for Liberians to embark on a pro-active campaign that will sustain and protect the environment against climate change.
Sloh also emphasized the need for Liberia as a nation to refrain from economic activities which lead to environmental degradation and climate pollution.
He made the statement in Buchanan, Grand Bassa County on Wednesday when he represented Information Minister Lewis Brow as keynote speaker at the start of a three-day “Media Environmental and Climate Change” workshop.
Sloh noted that the environmental condition and change in climate being experienced by Liberia can only be mitigated if measures are instituted to prevent harmful economic and industrial practices.
According to him, the occurrences of erosion along Liberia’s costal fronts over past decades speak to the fact that the issue of climate and environmental change must be given more attention.
He has, meanwhile, reemphasized calls by environmental experts that the placement of industrial production sites into densely populated urban communities is responsible for the hazardous pollution of those surroundings.
