Measles has claimed the lives of 11 children in Henry Town, Gbarpolu County. Making the disclosure to the Liberia News Agency over the weekend at the start of a training workshop on measles for 50 volunteers, health workers assigned in the town said the disease claimed the lives of the children in about one week.

Meanwhile, the Liberia National Red Cross Society Gbarpolu Chapter and the County Health Team have launched a 14-day intensive de-worming awareness campaign in the five health districts of the county.

Addressing participants at the start of the workshop, LNRCS Field Officer Seth Tarweh said the campaign is also aimed at enhancing government’s information dissemination effort about the measles vaccination campaign to be officially launched in Bopolu on May 8.

He admonished the volunteers to reach out to all citizens and residents of the county and inform them about the importance of the upcoming vaccination exercise.
