A recent study published in the Journal of Gerontology shows that married couples have 60 percent less risk for dementia than singletons.According to the scientists, couples tend to encourage healthier lifestyles, ward away depression, loneliness and heart disease; all risk factors for dementia.
The six year study carried at the University of Lougborough, United Kingdom involved the tracking of 6,677 persons.
Dementia affects about 47.5 million persons, it is a group of health conditions of which Alzheimers is the most promonent.
