No less than 112 children in the country have died of measles since 2015 and 22,567 suspected cases of measles were recorded across the 36 States of Nigeria; Dr Emmanuel Idoko, a consultant with the UNICEF has stated. He also described measles as a contagious disease that quickly spread from infected child to healthy one especially in crowded areas.

Children from nine months in Nigeria are vulnerable to this disease, so parents should ensure that children are immunized against the disease.

Mrs. Priscillia Odi, an immunization officer in the State Ministry of Health said the nation is embarking on a nationwide mass vaccination of children against the killer disease and that the campaign will hold in all 17 states in the southern part of the country from january28 to Feb 1 2016.
