A consultant surgeon and oncologist, Dr. Chiemelu Emegoakor, has advised women to regularly examine their breasts and to go for medical checkups if any lump is noticed, saying early detection saves lives. He has explained that breast cancer which is abnormal division of the breast cells, was not a death sentence but curable. The medical consultant has said that it was important for women to go for mammogram tests at least, once a year to detect any abnormality in the breast before it reaches advanced stage which, he noted, was very dangerous. Emegoakor has also advised women to seek medical treatment instead of going to native doctors and spiritual homes when they have cancer.
