The Ministry of Health has called on the National Assembly to include the 1% of the consolidated Revenue Fund as was provided by the National Health Act in the 2018 budget.

The Ministry urges that this will enable the government fund projects, programs and policies geared toward Universal Health Coverage (UHC) in Nigeria by 2025.

The Minister of State for Health, Dr. Ehanire Osagie said the present administration recognizes the importance of UHC in the National Health System, as part of the social protection architecture to ensure that Nigerian citizens get quality health service, when and where they need it, without suffering financial hardship.

And to this end, the government is working to provide physical access to health care with the revitalization of one functional Primary Health Care (PHC) Centers in every political ward to serve citizens even when they don’t have money immediately to pay.
