The Minister of Health, Prof Isaac Adewole in Abuja has warned Nigerians to use mosquito nets as the mosquito carrying Zika virus exists in Nigeria. The mosquito bites during the day and early morning and there is no vaccine yet for Zika virus.
He also urged pregnant women not to travel to countries that are affected in the current outbreak for a while or until the end of the outbreak.

The countries affected include those in the Americas except Chile and Canada. Cape Verde and South Africa both in Africa have reported cases. Other countries include China, Australia, New Zealand and Britain.
He also advised Nigerians to be vigilant and report any suspected case of Acute Febrile Illness in pregnant women to the nearest health facilities.
The mosquito which transmits Zika virus is the Aedes Egypti which also transmits Yellow fever and Dengue fever viruses
