Twenty new cases of tuberculosis were diagnosed in June this year at the eastern Moxico province Sanatorium Hospital, reads a note delivered to Angop Thursday in Luena. According to the press release, the cases were among 443 patients who sought the hospital’s external services. Of the above figure, the source adds, 171 are women and resulted in ten deaths, that is one more as compared with the previous period.

The source says that in the period in respect, 61 patients were interned and 27 extra-lung cases of tuberculosis were diagnosed, while five re-appeared and three fell back sick. The note states that 14 were discharged for improvement, four dropped out, two, were transferred to Moxico General Hospital, and 87 were submitted to treatment. The functioning of the Moxico Sanatorium Hospital is secure by two Vietnamese physicians and 102 Angolans, among nurses and administrative staff.
