NAFDAC urges Patients to report adverse cases of drug reaction.
During a training session organized for Healthcare providers on how to handle cases of adverse drug reaction on consumers, the National Agency for Food and Drugs Administration Control (NAFDAC) has urged patients and consumers to report cases of adverse drug reaction for prompt attention.
The Deputy Director in charge of NAFDAC office in Onitsha, Anambra state, Dr. Christiana Essenwa has observed that most of the severe drug reaction in the country are reported or documented, regretting that the public does not understand why they should alert health personnel on the situation.
She further added that the training will enable healthcare providers to guide their patients when they administer drugs, observe any adverse reaction and report adequately for proper actions. She also expressed great concern over the activities of herbal medicine practitioners in the state, warning that the agency would not relent in the fight against unwholesome drugs.
