Lüderitz based Marco Fishing has come out to donate N$10 000 and 500 kilogrammes of fish towards the commemoration of the World Aids day that would take place on December 06 at Aus, in Naminus Constituency. The company said it chose to make the donation because fight against the HIV/AIDS pandemic is a project that is dear to its heart. Namibia will commemorate the World AIDS Day on December 04, with mass walks for awareness and official programmes in Windhoek. World Aids Day is celebrated on December 01.
Klasen Neliwa, Head of the Exports Division of Marco Fishing Lüderitz, said Marco Fishing has been a staunch contributor to the HIV/AIDS fight in the region and cite the N$150 000 single donation to the AIDS Fund of the Ministry of Fisheries and Marine Resources. Besides HIV/AIDS cause, the fishing company has also supported programmes on education, sport and recreation for the youth, support of the elderly. On education Marco Fishing has since 2000 supported nine Lüderitz students with bursaries to study at the University of Namibia and the Polytechnic of Namibia.
Neliwa said Marco Fishing group remains committed in continuing to contribute to the social economic developments of Lüderitz and the //Kharas region and hope that this contribution will help to make a success of this very important event. Two weeks ago the Office of !Nami#nus Constituency received one tonne of fish from Seaflower Group for the World AIDS Day.
