NAUTH Successfully Conducts 6 Kidney Transplants – CMD

During the 40th induction cer­emony of 45 medical graduan­ds in Gilbert Ibeto Auditori­um, College of Health Science, Nnewi Teaching Hospital, The Chief Medical Director (CMD), of the hospital, Prof Anthony Igwegbe, disclosed that The Nnamdi Aziki­we University Teach­ing Hospital Nnewi (NAUTH), has successful­ly conducted 6 kidney trans­plants with 100 per cent suc­cess. He applauded doctors work­ing in the hospital for the suc­cessful replacement of the 6 kidneys.

While addressing the 45 graduating medical doctors, Igwegbe enjoined them to respect life, their senior col­leagues and also fear God in their daily practice. “If you feel you cannot mea­sure up to the ethics of this no­ble profession, kindly leave,” he admonished. On his part, an elder in the profession, Prof. P. I Ezeoka­for, reminded the young doc­tors to see the call as a divine one and advised them not to devout their energies and at­tention on looking for money, stressing: “If you practice the profession with diligence and conscientiously, money will find you, and He charged them to always be available, amiable and up to date in their practice and warns them against indecent dress code, which accord­ing to him, is mostly found amongst young doctors.  In her address, the Dean of Medicine, NAUTH, Prof E. F Ugochukwu, said the day marked a transition from stu­dentship to full practice and other medical trainings. “Guard your utterances and remember that the practice is an art and a calling. This is not the end of your career but the beginning, therefore chose an area of specialization to serve in, and “You are called to save lives and not to waste them, there­fore never hesitate to solic­it for help from senior col­leagues whenever you are in doubt,” she advised the young doctors.
