A new device, the size of a USB, to detect bacteria from urine samples four times more quickly existing methods has been discovered by scientists in the University of East Anglia, United Kingdom. The discovery could lead to faster treatment and better use antibiotics for urinary tract infections.
The device can also detect resistance to antibiotics, said Dr. Justin O’Grady, also of the University of East Anglia.
